Ysgol Gymraeg Trefynwy was a hive of activity as Pupils and staff at Monmouthshire’s newest Welsh-language primary school, enjoyed a fun-filled day of arts, crafts, stories, song and dance to mark World Bee Day, which is celebrated annually on 20th May. The pupils enjoyed a host of bee-related activities from dressing up, painting and making collages. However, without a doubt, the highlight of the day was the visit from local Welsh language author and teacher, Mrs Carys Glyn.
Inspired by her book Criw’r Coed a’r Gwenyn Coll, Carys kept the pupils entertained with a lively and dramatic workshop full of story-telling, drawing and dancing. The story has an important message, it makes children and adults alike aware of the vital role that bees play in our ecosystem, and also introduce young people to the issues around climate change.
