Winter Term

The winter term has wrapped our school in its familiar mix of dark mornings, wet playtimes, and chilly winds — yet there’s been no shortage of curiosity or excitement. Even on the greyest days, pupils have been looking forward to the promise of snow and frost, eager to explore the magical changes winter brings.

Our outdoor learning has been full of discovery. The children have spent time in the garden observing how water freezes, thaws, and melts, noticing the tiny details that make winter such a fascinating season. There’s something special about watching pupils investigate icy puddles, frosted leaves, and the way the world seems to sparkle after a cold night.

And despite the cold, signs of new life are already appearing. The first brave flowers are beginning to poke their heads through the soil, reminding us that spring is never too far away. These early snowdrops have tied in beautifully with our music learning this term, as pupils have been enjoying the Welsh song O Lili Wen Fach, which celebrates the arrival of the very first snowdrops of the year.

As we look ahead to warmer weather there is plenty to be excited about; preparations are already underway for our school Eisteddfod, giving pupils the chance to shine through music, poetry, art, and performance.  We will also soon be celebrating Dydd Gŵyl Dewi, St David’s Day, when we come together to honour Welsh heritage, culture, and identity, from traditional songs and costumes to daffodils and dragons.

We are hosting an open morning on Tuesday 3rd March from 9.30am to 11am, and we’d love to welcome families who are curious about what Welsh‑medium education has to offer. It’s a friendly opportunity to explore our classrooms, meet our staff, and see the vibrant, bilingual learning environment that helps our pupils thrive. Come along, ask questions, and get a real feel for the benefits of a Welsh language education. Mae croeso cynnes i bawb!
