Penblwydd Hapus Ysgol Gymraeg Trefynwy!

On Friday 12th September, Ysgol Gymraeg Trefynwy marked a major milestone, our first birthday, with a joyful celebration that brought smiles to the faces of pupils, staff, families, and supporters alike.

The event was made extra special thanks to the support of Menter Iaith Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen, Mynwy, who helped organise a fun-filled party that truly captured the spirit of our school and its growing community.

Pupils were treated to a lively performance by 'Do, Re, Mi', which had everyone singing and dancing along. The celebrations continued with face painting, party games, and of course, cake — because no birthday is complete without it!

Reflecting on the school’s journey, the Headteacher, Mrs Kathryn Matthews, shared: “Last September we opened with just 18 pupils. Fast-forward a year and thanks to the hard work and support of our staff, PTFA and Governing Body in conjunction with support offered by Monmouthshire County Council we have almost doubled in size. We also wish to recognise the warm welcome of the Headteacher and staff at Overmonnow Primary School, and we thank them for their continued support.”

At the heart of Ysgol Gymraeg Trefynwy is a nurturing ethos that encourages every child to feel safe, supported, and inspired. The school’s core values, Gofalu, Perthn, Ffynnu - Belong, Care, Thrive, are woven into daily life, creating a strong sense of community, a foundation for lifelong learning and a commitment to the Welsh language and culture.

We look forward to celebrating many more birthdays and continued success at Ysgol Gymraeg Trefynwy!
